VPOP3 Email Server
Extensions
VPOP3 has support for extensions which are external programs which can be plugged-in to VPOP3 to extend
and enhance the capabilities of the VPOP3 software.
VPOP3 can run external programs at the following times:
- Whenever a message is downloaded from an ISP POP3 mailbox (External Router). (This allows for virus scanning, specialised message
routing requirements, message decryption etc).
- Whenever a message is sent to an external or internal email address, or when a message is received from an incoming
SMTP mail feed (OutMail Processor). (This allows for virus scanning, message processing, encryption etc).
- Whenever a message arrives in a certain VPOP3 mailbox (External Autoresponder). (This can be used for sending complex autoresponse messages
(simple autoresponders are built into VPOP3), or automatically linking to databases etc).
- Whenever VPOP3 connects or disconnects to the Internet. (This can be used to run other Internet tasks etc).
VPOP3 Extensions can be written in most programming languages, such as PERL, C/C++, batch file scripting, Visual Basic and Delphi, etc.
Several VPOP3 Extensions are available from our website:
- The VPOP3 Plugin Pack contains a set of VPOP3 extensions which allow you to do things such as scanning incoming/outgoing
messages for viruses, filtering messages according to attachments, send messages to pagers/mobile phones etc.
- VPOP3Protect is a free VPOP3 extension to scan incoming POP3 messages for common
email viruses/worms and optionally all .VBS attachments and redirect them to the administrator.
- There are several User Contributed Extensions for VPOP3 donated by
VPOP3 users. These are often supplied with source code so they can be modified to suit your requirements.
