MailScan for VPOP3 is Content-Security and Anti-Virus Software that works
with for your corporate VPOP3 Mail Server.
It scans and cleans emails that:
- Flow between all local users
- Are sent from VPOP3 to the Internet
- Come into your VPOP3 from the Internet (either via SMTP or POP3)
MailScan transparently works
on SMTP and POP3 traffic. It has the
world's first "real-time" email Content-Security and Anti-Virus software that analyzes the emails on a real-time
basis before they are delivered to the email clients or servers on your network. Both SMTP and POP3 are supported.
The unique features of MailScan for VPOP3 are:
- No port settings or changes need to be made inside VPOP3
- No gateway machine needs to be dedicated to MailScan for VPOP3. MailScan will work alongside VPOP3 on the same machine
Technically, a new layer, called the MicroWorld WinSock Layer (MWL), has been introduced between the default WinSock2
component and TCP/IP applications such as VPOP3. MWL is responsible for analyzing the traffic that flows between VPOP3 and the
Internet or your email clients.
Besides providing Anti-Virus and Content-Scanning features, MailScan also has a Generic Attachment Analyzer, Automatic
Compression/Decompression feature, a comprehensive notification engine, etc
MailScan uses the eScan Content-Security and Anti-Virus solution to scan all the attachments in your email. The emails that
are sent to and received from the Internet are scanned and cleaned, their contents are checked before VPOP3 processes them.
All MailScan processes are multi-threaded. This ensures that all emails are processed in parallel if required. All common types
of attachments are handled by MailScan, including MIME and UUEncoded attachments. RFC822 attachments, embedded emails, Multipart-Mixed
and Multipart-digest message types are also handled.

an annual licence contract which includes virus updates (downloadable from the Internet). You have to buy the
