Domain Registration Terms & Conditions
Nominet Domains
Registration terms
If you are registering, renewing or transferring a Nominet domain (a domain ending with .uk, then the domain registration is subject to Nominet's Terms and Conditions of Domain Name Registration.
On domain registration, we need to verify the contact details we are given. In many case we will do this using either our existing knowledge of you, or public records such as Yellow Pages etc. In rare situations we may need extra ID information from you, but this is unlikely if you are a UK based business. Contact us if you are unsure.
Prices
We charge £12.00 + VAT for 1 year registration, or £10.00 + VAT per year for 2-10 year's registration (a domain can be registered for a maximum of 10 years in total)
The prices for renewal are the same as for initial registration.
The registration price includes: domain registration, DNS hosting if required, email forwarding if required.
Renewals
Shortly before the domain registration is due to expire (usually 2 months before, then 1 month, then a couple of weeks before expiration) we will send an email to the contact address we have for the registration asking if the domain is to be renewed. The renewal prices are the same as for the initial registration. You can renew by telephone or on our website. If you have a credit account with us, you can also renew by email if you wish.
If the domain expires, Nominet will maintain the domain in a 'suspended' state for a while after expiration. During this time, the domain may not 'work', but it will still be 'yours'. Until Nominet cancel the domain, you can renew the domain at the normal price, even it has been suspended.
Unlike some domain registrars, we will not take over use of the domain after expiration, or use it for domain tasting or other nefarious activities. We will not charge higher renewal fees if the domain has already expired.
If you choose not to renew the domain, we will let it lapse rather than grabbing it for our own use as some registrars may do to take advantage of your website traffic.
Domain Management
Once you have registered a domain, the My Account section on our website will let you manage the DNS servers for the domain, and update email forwarding and DNS records if those are hosted with us. You can also renew the domain in this area.
For other information such as WHOIS data, contact details, registrant or domain transfers etc, then email us for help.
Registrar Transfers
If you want to transfer a Nominet domain into us, then you need to tell the current domain registrar to transfer the domain to our tag: PSCS. Note that technically this transfer should take a matter of seconds, and Nominet do not charge for this transfer. Some registrars may take an unreasonable amount of time to perform the transfer and/or may charge for the transfer. We don't. If you wish you may want to inform us beforehand of the transfer, and tell us of any DNS entries you will want configured on the domain once it is hosted on our DNS servers. This will minimise any downtime of services. We charge at least one year's registration for a transfer onto our tag. This will extend the time of your domain registration, but also helps to cover the cost of our domain hosting services which we will be providing even though we were not paid for those.
If you want to transfer a Nominet domain from us to another registrar, then you need to tell us the new 'tag' which you want the domain to be transferred to. For security reasons, we may then send an email back to you to confirm the transfer. Once we are reasonably confident that the transfer request is legitimate we will perform the transfer immediately and at no cost to you. If you wish to give us more notice we can set the 'TTL' on your DNS records to a low value so that any DNS changes will take effect more quickly after the transfer.
Getting help/support/complains
For domain issues we prefer if you email us on support@pscs.co.uk if possible.
In urgent situations you can telephone us, but we may be limited in what we can do in that case - for instance we will not perform a registrar transfer only following a telephone call - we will have to confirm it by email first.
See our contact details for more information.
If you have a complaint about our registrar service & facilities, then in the first instance, contact us. We will respond within 1 business day. As we are a small company, your complaint will be dealt with by the company owner in the first instance, so there is no need to 'escalate' it. If our response is not satisfactory, then you can contact Nominet directly - see the Nominet registrar complaints procedure
