VPOP3 for Windows Home Server Requirements
The minimum requirements for VPOP3 for Windows Home Server are below. Note that the requirements will increase depending on what else the VPOP3 computer is used for, how many user's you have defined in VPOP3 and how much mail they receive and send.
The VPOP3 computer does not need to be dedicated to running VPOP3, so you should take into account the requirements for the other software.
Minimum Requirements for VPOP3 for Windows Home Server
- Windows Home Server (2003/v1). VPOP3 for WHS does not work with WHS 2011.
- Computer with 1GHz Pentium 4 (or higher) processor. VPOP3 will utilise multiple processors or multicore processors fully.
- 512MB RAM. (If you turn off the spam filtering facility, then the memory usage will be considerably less).
- 40MB Hard disk space required for VPOP3 itself. Extra space will be needed for email storage.
- Internet Explorer 5.5 or later for WebMail and WebAdmin (1)
- Internet connection (eg Modem, ISDN Terminal adapter, xDSL connection or Router connection).
- Internet account with email facilities.
- TCP/IP networking on the local network.
Workstation computers can run any operating system which supports TCP/IP, and need suitable Internet email client software (any email software which supports POP3 & SMTP is suitable)
Notes:
- WebMail and WebAdmin also work with most other 'latest' web browsers - eg Opera 9, Mozilla Firefox etc.
